Khatibzadeh expresses condolences over demise of Professor Bert Fragner

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh noted on Friday that Professor Bert Fragner played a significant role in introducing Iranian culture, history, and Persian language to the European scientific community, especially German-speaking states.

By extending condolences for the passing away of Professor Bert Fragner, a great contemporary Iranologist and founder of the Austrian Institute of Iranology to the scientific community, Iranologists, and all of Iran's friends, Khatibzadeh wrote on his Instagram account on Friday that about three years ago when he was director-general of the office of studies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he met Professor Fragner in Vienna.

Fragner was a cultural, scholarly, and loving figure who was so fond of Iranian culture and civilization that he considered Iran his second homeland, he highlighted.

Referring to the fact that Professor Fragner was one of the greatest contemporary Iranologists who devoted nearly six decades of his life to recognizing and introducing the history, culture, and Literature of Iran, Khatibzadeh added that Professor Fragner played an important role in introducing Iranian culture, history, and Persian language to the European scientific community, especially in German-speaking countries.

By writing numerous scientific works and extensive activities, he has had a lasting impact on the field of Iranian studies in the world and therefore has a special and popular place in Iran and among Iranians, he noted.
